Gated Thyristors – Bourns full range of gated Thyristors offer effective, flexible and fast protection for sensitive, expensive telecom IC's. Bourns patented solution utilizes a buffer transistor coupled to the integrated thyristors for faster and more efficient protection resulting in lower costs for chip set manufacturers.
Symmetric Gas Discharge Tubes – Bourns' new symmetric three-electrode GDT provides the same breakdown voltage between any two of the three of the Tip, Ring or Ground electrodes. This solution is particularly attractive for board-level protection where an overvoltage state can appear between any of the three electrodes.

Polymer PTCs – As surface mount Polymer PTCs become smaller and smaller, the metallization that forms the electrodes has a clamping effect inhibiting the active material from expanding. However, it is the very expansion with temperature that generates the many orders of magnitude increase in resistance at an overcurrent event. Bourns new series of Polymer PTCs are designed to allow the device to expand and contract more freely, which reduces variability and extends product life.
Octagonal Inductors – Traditional inductor shapes are square, round or oval. Bourns new SRU series of octagonal inductors deliver higher ratings at the same size. Another significant advantage is that octagonal inductors can be scaled in terms of inductance and current rating without changing the footprint, only the height of the device changes.
